SPECIALIST PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

 

Professor Peter O'Sullivan (Grad Dip Manip Ther, Ph D, FACP)

Peter O’Sullivan is a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Professor of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at Curtin University. He is internationally recognised as a leading clinician, researcher and educator in the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal pain disorders. He consults 3 days per  week at Body Logic where he reviews complex musculoskeletal pain disorders, and works closely with all the clinical staff to ensure the high level of clinical care that is provided within the practice.

 

 

Dr Judith Thompson (Dip Physio, Post Grad Dip Women's Health)  

Judith Thompson is Specialist Continence and Women’s Health Physiotherapist and lecturer on the post graduate Continence and Women’s Health physiotherapy course at Curtin University. She completed her PhD, researching pelvic floor muscle dysfunction in women with bladder control disorders using real-time ultrasound. Judith specialises in the treatment of bladder and bowel incontinence in both men and women, bladder, uterine and bowel prolapse problems, as well as pre and post-natal disorders and pelvic pain management.  

 

 

Chris Perkin (BSc Physio, MSport Physio, FACP)

Chris Perkin is a Specialist Sports Physiotherapist who holds a Masters degree in Sports Physiotherapy. He has worked with many elite sporting teams and athletes and is currently working part time with the West Coast Eagles and the WAIS track and field / pole vault team.  Chris has expertise in the total rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and overseeing the progression of people back to their normal activities. He also lectures in the area of sports physiotherapy.  

 

 

 

Elizabeth Pyne (Poly Assoc in Physio (UK), Grad Dip Manip Ther, FACP)

Elizabeth Pyne is a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist who has worked in various London teaching hospitals before completing the Postgraduate Diploma in manipulative Therapy at Curtin University in 1992. Liz has worked in private practice since this time and specialises in all aspects of musculoskeletal physiotherapy. 

 

 

  

Alison Thorpe (B App Science (Physio) Grad Dip Sports Physio, MPhil (Physio), FACP)

Alison Thorpe is a Specialist Sports Physiotherapist who has worked with a wide range of elite athletes and sporting teams and has toured nationally and internationally with Olympic athletes. She has significant experience in the diagnosis and management of a variety of sporting injuries. Alison is also a lecturer at Curtin University in the field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy and during 2010 completed her Masters of Philosophy research thesis investigating the effect of a specific physiotherapy intervention on the prevalence of low back pain in adolescent female rowers. Alison has specialty expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of shoulder pain and dysfunction both in athletes and the general population. The shoulder region is her primary area of interest and she has extensive experience in the rehabilitation of the shoulder post surgery.
 

 

  

Vicki Negus (BSc (Physio), M Sports Physio, Specialist Sports Physiotherapist (FACP), Certified Pilates Instructor)

Vicki Negus is an experienced Specialist Sports Physiotherapist (with sub-specialty in Dance Physiotherapy), who holds a Masters Degree in Sports Physiotherapy and is a Certified Pilates Instructor with the Australian Pilates Method Association. Vicki is the Company Physiotherapist for the West Australian Ballet, and has researched dance injuries and worked with professional and pre-professional dancers since 1999. Vicki's particular expertise is in promoting self-management and rehabilitation of sports injuries and musculoskeletal disorders. At our clinic, Vicki incorporates Pilates and Physiotherapy approaches to design comprehensive exercise programmes for injury rehabilitation in all areas, as well as conditioning and injury prevention for sport and dance. Vicki also lectures on Pilates, and dance sports physiotherapy.   * Vicky is currently in maternity leave.

 

   


 POST GRADUATE PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

 

JP Caneiro (BSc Physio, M Sport Physio, MSc Biomechanics)

Joao Paulo Caneiro is a Sports Physiotherapist who completed his Masters degree in Sports Physiotherapy at Curtin University in 2006. He initially trained in Brazil where he also completed a Master of Science in Human Movement with emphasis in Biomechanics. In Brazil he worked with many sporting teams and was involved in physiotherapy education. Living in Perth since 2005, Joao Paulo is currently the team physio for the Western Force Academy and is one of the WAIS physiotherapy providers. In addition to his clinical work, JP works as a clinical tutor and research officer at Curtin University. JP is involved in clinical research of spinal pain conditions and has a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of chronic/persistent musculoskeletal disorders.

  

Prue Newnham (BSc Physio(Hons), M Sport Physio)

Prue Newnham is a Sports Physiotherapist who holds a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy (University of Queensland) and Honours in Physiotherapy (Curtin University). She has worked closely with and toured with members of the Australian and Western Australian Swimming teams, and she consults to the Australian Institute of Sport female hockey team. Prue is also a Certified Clinical Pilates Instructor with Dance Medicine Australia and has a particular interest in rehabilitating sports and musculoskeletal injuries to optimise sports performance.

 

 Jeremy Ingram (MSc Physio, BSc(Hons) Exercise & Health Science) 

Jeremy is a Physiotherapist who holds a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy (Curtin) and an Honours Degree in Exercise and Health Science (UWA). Jeremy's special interests include the management of chronic lower back pain disorders, sports injuries and designing exercise programs to enhance performance. Jeremy also specialises in exercise prescription and lifestyle modification to assist with the management of chronic diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, depression, anxiety, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Jeremy is also involved in the strength and conditioning training and injury management of elite athletes. Jeremy currently works with the West Coast Eagles and lectures for Sports Medicine Australia 

 

Colin Strydom (MSc Physio, BSc Sports Science) 

 

Colin is a Physiotherapist and Exercise Physiologist who holds a Masters Degree in Physiotherapy (Curtin). He initially trained in South Africa where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Sports Science. Colin has extensive experience in rehabilitation of musculoskeletal and sporting injuries through the use of exercise-based rehabilitation. 

 

 

 

 Michael Sharp (MSc Physio, BSc Sports Science) 

Michael Holds A Master Degree In Physiotherapy (Curtin), A Bachelor Of Sport Science (ECU) And Is Currently Completing Further Post-Graduate Studies In Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (Curtin). Michael Has Extensive Experience In Rehabilitation Of Both Musculoskeletal And Sports Injuries With A Particular Interest In Diagnosis And Management Of Chronic, Recurrent Disorders

 

 

 Caroline da Silva (BSc Physio, MPhysio, Certified Pilates Instructor) 

 Caroline Is a Physiotherapist and Certified Pilates practitioner with Dance Medicine Australia. She completed her bachelor degree in Brazil where she also worked within the area of biomechanical research. She moved to Australia, completing the accelerated clinical program (Masters in Physiotherapy) at Curtin University and has been working with Clinical Pilates and Physio in the management of musculoskeletal injuries and designing exercise programs for patients of all ages.

Coming from a dance background Caroline has a particular interest in the prevention and treatment of dance injuries. She also enjoys applying her creativity to classes and treatment through the use of Pilates in rehabilitation, sports performance and conditioning training.

  

Natalie Bogoias (BSc (Physiotherapy), Grad Cert Clinical Physiotherapy, (Continence and    Women's Health Physio), APA & CFA Member)  

Natalie is a Physiotherapist with further qualifications in Women's Health Physiotherapy. Natalie specialises in the treatment of urge and stress incontinence, pelvic girdle pain, pelvic organ prolapse, as well as ante and postnatal care. 

 

 

 

Emma Boucher (BSc (Physio), Grad Cert Clin Phys, (Continence and Women's Health Physio), Clinical Pilates Instructor, APA Member)

Emma Boucher is a Continence and Women’s health physiotherapist who has completed her masters in this field. Emma specialises in the management of bladder and bowel dysfunction in both men and women, as well as the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, ante and postnatal disorders.

 

 

 Linda Gooch ( BSc Physio, Grad Dip Manip Ther, MSc)  

Linda Gooch is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Feldenkrais Practitioner, who holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Manipulative Therapy and a Master of Science degree involving a study of neck pain. A Qualified Feldenkrais Practitioner, Linda specialises in the management of complex spine disorders and working with children with musculoskeletal pain or movement disorders. 

 

 

 

Fiona Chromiak (BSc Physio, M Sport Physio, APA Sports Physio, SPA National Chairperson, Pilates Instructor, APA & SPA Member)  

Fiona is a highly experienced Sports Physiotherapist who consults to both the Australian and Western Australian Institute of Sport Women's Hockey squads. Fiona treats a range of National and other elite athletes in her role as a WAIS Sports Physiotherapist. Fiona's experience is in the diagnosis and management of both acute and long term soft tissue and joint problems, particularly of the lower limb. Fiona's expertise is in rehabilitating musculoskeletal pain disorders to optimise function.

 Jenny Woods (BSc Physio, Grad Dip Manip Ther)

Jenny Woods is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist who has experience in both hospital and private practice and has been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Her special interests include the treatment of chronic low back and pelvic pain, particularly related to pregnancy.

  MEDICAL PRACTITIONER

 

Dr Richard Yin (MBBS, Grad Dip Manip Ther, Grad Cert Mus Med)  

Dr Richard Yin is a Medical Practitioner with further qualifications in Manipulative Therapy, Musculoskeletal Medicine and Feldenkrais. Crossing many disciplines, his special interest is in the diagnosis and management of patients with complex and / or persistent pain problems. 

 

 

 

  

 MASSAGE THERAPIST

 

Darren Tumak (Diploma Of Health Science (Massage))

Darren is an experienced massage therapist who has extensive qualifications in this area. He has worked with many sporting teams including the Men's State Gymnastics team and works closely with the Body Logic Physiotherapists to help manage problems through massage. Darren uses various massage techniques and dry needling if required in management of clients. He prides himself on his professionalism and ability to address the needs of each client as an individual.
