PILATES AND EXERCISE REHABILITATION

At Body Logic Physiotherapy, a fully-equipped Pilates Studio forms part of our Exercise Rehabilitation Studio.  Pilates sessions are conducted by our Pilates-trained Sports Physiotherapists, Vicki Negus, Fiona Chromiak and Pilates-trained Physiotherapists Emma Boucher and Caroline da Silva.  These Studio sessions are individually tailored to clients’ needs, incorporating floor, functional and/or Pilates equipment exercises.

What is ‘Pilates’?

Pilates is a holistic form of exercise requiring concentration and awareness of breathing and movement. Recent research conducted by Body-logic Clinical Director Associate Professor Peter O’Sullivan and his team, has identified that pain commonly results in altered patterns of movement and muscle activity. This leaves the body vulnerable to setting up a vicious cycle of pain. Physiotherapists at Body logic are skilled in the identification and correction of these patterns, by specific tailored exercise programs. This can relieve pain and enhance function.

We offer Pilates sessions for rehabilitation of pain or injuries, or for conditioning, cross-training, injury prevention and general fitness.  Since our sessions are all supervised by a Physiotherapist individually or in small groups, modifications and variations can be made for any individual. People of any age and level of fitness, with a variety of exercise goals, can participate in Pilates, under the close supervision of a trained instructor.
Our studio includes the following Pilates equipment: Reformer, Mat, Trapeze Table (Cadillac), WundaChair, High Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector (Small Barrel) and Rotator Disks.  We also use Swiss balls, therabands, weights and pulleys, wobble-boards, and other balance equipment.

Aims of Pilates:

  • Prevention & management of musculoskeletal pain
  • Rehabilitation of sports & dance injuries
  • Rehabilitation after surgery or trauma
  • Conditioning, cross-training & technique modification for sports & dance
